Road-legal 1.0-litre Formula Ford EcoBoost vs Audi R8, BMW M6 and an Mercedes A45 AMG

Autocar UK pits Formula Ford EcoBoost against Germany’s finest: the BMW M6, Audi R8 and Mercedes A45 AMG.

The new road-legal Formula Ford EcoBoost is turbocharged, open-wheeled racer with 200-horsepower from a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine. The race also weighs only 495 kilograms and it’s road-legal in the UK.

While racing at Nurburgring, the Formula Ford EcoBoost scored a time of just 7:22. The fuel consumption is 2.4 liters every 100 kilometers (118 mpg).

Unfortunately the bad weather conditions on the day of shooting rendered the test almost useless, but despite the wet pavement the Formula Ford EcoBoost held its own and impressed against the German contenders.
