History of the Formula Ford EcoBoost

 

Back in 2012 Ford considered selling road-going versions of the one-off Formula Ford car powered by the one-liter Ecoboost turbo engine. This car blitzed the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 22. There was a lot of talk at the time about Ford doing a limited run of 50 cars but it never happened. We saw an opportunity to possibly convert these cars for the street as Ford had done. This is one of the only race cars that has ever been offered as kit that actually has a direct racing heritage. FF200 Kit:

Our kit comes with front and rear wing (installation required). We will eventually have a few other engine-transmission options besides the original 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine. In the USA we sell this car as a kit car complete cars can be offered outside of the USA. The FF200 can be registered as a road legal car depending on where you live provided your kit car when completed complies with all local, state, federal regulations governing kit cars. 

 

The road legal package comes with the all the necessary equipment (installation required) to comply with most local regulations in most states or countries. If you are outside if the USA check with your country for specific requirements.

 

• New or used engines can be sourced directly from Ford, Ebay, engine suppliers, local salvage yards, salvage auctions or Craigslist. Our kit cars are currently configured for the Ford EcoBoost 1.6 liter engine. We have a few recommended supplier engine suppliers under vendors on our website. We take no responsibility for recommending any of these vendors.
   

We are offering a Formula Ford FF200 kit configured to use the following engine and transmission:

 

1.6 liter EcoBoost engine: Ford EcoBoost direct injection, turbocharged engine, limited to producing around 184-hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a Hewland 6-speed sequential transmission with mechanical shift. This engine has about 184hp in the USA. The 1.6 liter Ecoboost FF200 kit will come with bell housing to mount the engine to Hewland six speed sequential transmission. Colors: We offer two color options for exterior body, red or white. We can paint the car a custom color at additional cost. The frame can be powder coated white or black or a custom color for an extra cost.

Street Legal Kit: This kit contain most items required to meet most state regulations regarding kit cars. Please check with your state or country before purchasing. The kit includes: front and rear fenders, turn signals, brake lights, third brake light, high and low beam HID headlights.
